Having bought a Quest, and worked out (I think!) how to mount it, I must now decide whether to rely on the Quest's internal battery, or connect to the bike's.

Do people who have used the Quest find the internal battery power to be enough or does it tend to die when needed the most?

Had a two week tour earlier this year and the Quest was quite happy with a charge from the mains at night after six or seven hours riding. On longish motorway or known sectors I sometimes turn it off anyway

You may soon find the issue of voice instructions of more interest. If so the RAM Qwack Qwack thinggy at £15 gets the sound out of the GPSR - plug in a mono curly connecting cable and then it'd just a choice of flat helmet speaker (eBay £25) or speaker bud (£65ish) I went the Ultimate Ear route and am saving the other ear, currently sporting a yellow foam plug, for future bike to bike comms

Get it powered - you know you want to ....

Having run a quest unpowered last year on my Duke :spitfire and now powered on my GSA I would say go the powered route:

1. You can have the backlight on all the time without a worry - much better if you misjudge the time and it gets dark! :mmmm
2. You don't have to charge the damn thing up every night so you can just get on with the drinking
3. It looks much better :ymca :tosser

I've got a RAM mount and the locking Touratech thingy. I love the locking mechanism as I keep forgetting to take it off the bike when I walk away and I haven't lost it yet. :bounce1
