Hi All,

My 94 R1100GS has 3 switches on its dash. One is hazards, one is ABS and I have no idea what the other is as its has no markings/lens on it? What is it for?

Thanks

Dave, reluctant presser of unlabelled switches....

I take it you don`t have heated grips? If you don`t that`s why you have an extra switch. Great, now you can use that to do some extra modding;) BTW, you don`t want heated grips, if you want warm hands by heated gloves ;)

I'm not sure if I have heated grips or not? The switch that is inthere doesn't work. Alos, the lens bit is missing and it's on the lens of the other 2 switches that tells you what each switch is for?

It should be the heated grip switch. It's the only two way switch - press to switch to the left for simmer, to the right for boil.

Cool. I liked the heated grips on the 1150 Steptoe lent me. I wonder if I can get these working again.......:)

If its the bike you got from steptoe, its the nitro button. You have one second to get your hand back on the bars before it takes off.

Watch out for clutch slip:D

Well that beats the sh*t out of heated grips!
 :D

If the switch is a rocker,ie it goes both ways(cue jokes) it's for heated grips.if it doesn't do anything,it's a micky mouse one that stops a big hole being in the dash board, probabally;)

lens bit missing?
sound like a blank plastic rocker switch cover.
should have a pic of heated grips.

It was a heated grip switch but appearantly it was altered. On my GS the ABS button is altered and the led of my alarm has been put there:

Aha, that clears it up, thanks. How can i tell if my grips are heated, wires somewhere I presume?

Start bike, press switch to right, leave to idel for a couple of minutes, touch grips with bare hands. If burning sensation is felt and smell of scorching flesh prevails - you have them and they work. If nothing, you either:

a) don't have them

b) do have them but they're fcuked.

HTH;) :D

Look at the handle bar bracket. If a wire on each side goes into the handlebar you have heated grips, if you don`t have wires or worse, there are no holes in your handlebars well, I think you know the answer ;)

How can i tell if my grips are heated

start the bike

measure voltage across battery

turn grips on

note any volt drop = grips working or not.
