Hi,

I was cruising round the Touratech catalogue for F800GS bits (OK I have to admit I really need to get a life :) and came across a "Hard Part, radiator" for it. According to Touratech
The radiator of the F 800 GS is only screwed to the frame at one point; all other attachments consist of slot-in
rubber bearings. A fall or extreme loads when riding off-road can cause the plastic loop to tear off
:eek

The item apparently:
is a replacement for this angle bracket, and provides
additional support for the radiator on the filler neck. This means the radiator is securely attached, and is
effectively protected against sliding out of the rubber bearings.
Has anyone come across this happening? Also has anyone actually fitted the item in question and, if so, what are their thoughts on it?

The reason for asking is that the wife and I are planning to go through Africa this year and I don't want something to happen and to be left with a dangling radiator :D

Thanks

Adrian

Absolute waste of money. I know the way the radiator is fixed as I've adapted the F800GS plastic radiator shroud for my F650GS. By the time you crashed seriously enough to impact this area you have some real problems.

Anyway, that's what cable ties, bits of string and gaffer tape are for. :)

Tim,

Thanks - you've just saved me some money to go and spend on some other gadget then :)

Will make sure I take a goodly supply of cable ties and tape 'cos I have a tendency to errr crash a lot :D
