Something is amiss with Camille. before i ever tryed to start her with the kickstart it was always tucked up nicely out of the way but now the kickstart sits at a nice shin busting angle. I've tryed to knock it back up, no go. i've removed the cotter pin and tryed to reposition but the flat on the shaft is in the wrong place so can't do it that way. Is there anyway of putting it right without ripping the gearbox out:nenau

Snap - 2 of my GS's are the same. Tried knocking the cotter pin out to no avail. Very interested in the guru's take on this.:thumb2

PS after maybe 20 years of airhead ownership I actually managed to start one with the kickstart the other day:confused:

The standard ignition module powers down to save burning the coil out, unfortunatly it powers down faster than you can kick it over. There is another module that keeps the power on the coil for longer giving you time to kick it over. Piss poor design because most of the kickstart ones come equiped with the module that powers down quickly - clearly the Germans do have a sense of humour :(

Sussed it.

Kirkstart is in correct position. It's the rest of the bike that's out of alignment.

i am sure i have hered it mentioned that the first tooth gets a bashing and fecks off. you could always tie the lever back saying its so you dont catch your trouser leg when you stop and have to put your foot down iykwim :augie:D

I've exactly the same thing on my R65GS, it has no slack, and won't push further up.
I posted a pic and asked for help about 12 months ago, but got no sensible answers to it.

Yes my g/s kicker lever also sticks out a bit. I fitted a new cotter pin and it did make a slight difference. That together with knocking it up a bit stopped it being in the way though. could always take it off ..
