How is the Quickshifter/Blipper comparing to the 1250GS setup, I found the GS harsh on the 1st to 2nd and very clunky. Has the new 1300GS resolved that issue?

Asking as my local dealer has no 1300GS's available for a test ride.

Never use the quick shifter between 1st and 2nd anyway but it’s a significant improvement over my 2021 1250 GS.
I got to the point on my 1250 where I stopped using it but on this (2024 1300) it’s a revelation both up and down the box so I use it all the time but still not between 1st and 2nd.

Shouldn’t use between 1st and 2nd…… up or down.
Other than that the shift is great

My 1250 was ok so not a huge improvement imo , like others have said never use from 1st to 2nd

I use it 1st to 2nd, it's fine if you get into 2nd as soon as you can and without many many revs on.
My model year 2022 1250gs was better on the quckshiftter & gearbox than my previous 2019 1250gs. My 1300gs isn't massively better than my 2022 1250gs, so it does depend on which year of 1250gs you are coming from in my experience as to whether the 1300 is better on the GSAP.
It's better than on the first 1250gs's.

I went from a 21 GSA which i did 22k miles on. the 1300 gearbox and quickshifter is effortless and recommended.

general reliability is not.

I had a 2019 1250GSA then a 2023 1250GSA and now a 2024 1300 and I honestly found the gear change (with or without the clutch) awful compared to both my 1250's, even after 8000 miles of use. Dealer said it was all adjusted and calibrated fine and blamed it on me. My friend who has a 1250 tried mine and said the same though, very clunky going up and blipper never gets it right most of the time on the way down.

I used to go from 2nd to 1st on my 1250's with the blipper with no issue ever despite it not being advised. I did recently change the plastic gear lever on mine for an SW Motech metal one and it's honestly transformed the gear change. I'd say it's now on par with both my 1250's.

Plastic gear lever?
Yep, unless you get Option 719 or the Enduro pack (I think) then the standard lever is plastic. It flexes, not by a lot but given that 2 of my mates have had them snap already, 1 at the lever pivot and one at the toe bit I didn’t wanna take a chance. Neither of them rides off road and both are on about their 6th or 7th GS and never previously had this issue.

I find 1st to 2nd works fine on quick shifter so long as you change into 2nd as soon as you are moving and don't have a fist full of throttle.
I test road the new ASA 1300 & funnily enough sometimes in auto when setting off after stopping (eg at lights or traffic) it didn't even go down to 1st and set off in 2nd without problems. Don't know if it did that because it was on level ground or downhill?? , assume it would have used 1st if it had been uphill??.
Getting far too clever these bikes. :-).

I wouldn't be too keen setting off in 2nd with luggage and a pillion🫣
