After looking around at other 1150 GS's I noticed that on the GS model the Telelever arm thingy is different to my GSA. I can't find any pics of other 03 GSA's that show the arm off well enough to compare.
So is the gsa arm different to a gs one or have I got some wierd/aftermarket part on mine.

This is mine.

What the hells it doing on my GSA????!!!
:thedummy :(

I'm still wondering what the hell the previous owner did to this bike. Looks like more bloomin cost then to replace that bit as I'm thinking at full flex thats going to catch the crashbar.

Any idea where to get a proper one?

Makes sense as it is a bike thats been damaged before, the part looks brand new as well. So why the hell did they put a rockstar one on? Are they cheaper? Or where they just numptys & ordered the wrong part? Hmmm

Leave it on..................it looks ok

Shane Leave it Be it's fine It's probably stronger than the original!

I have one in the garage I sprayed it and fitted it to the Grrrrrrrr (My Hybrid Fing!)

Was fine except my base bike the R1100RS has a fairing support it clunked on it!!! Ttttttttttttooooooooooooooooo Annnoying so it came off!

Barsteward It looked excellent!

I would like to leave it on but I think it might be catching on the top mount of the crashbar, could be part of the clunk noise I am getting. I know my balljoint has play & thought that was the source of the noise. But feeling the top of the telelever arm I can feel a mark that looks like it is coming into contact with the crashbar.

I will have to have a better look in the daylight but looks like it's gotta come off. Is it an easy job to get them off?

If I can source one I will do it at the same time as the balljoint/bridge change Jay.

I have a feeling you might have a heart attack at the price of a new one... parts like that tend to be mega pricey. and finding a second hand (undamaged) might be difficult - if not impossible.

Any idea how much roughly Tony?

I'm hiding behind the sofa ready for a shock!

:D

Plus I will then have a good secondhand Rockstar telelevr pivot thing to sell, those guys do crash as well don't they?

;)

I did exactly that mod on my hybid GS/ADV/superbloto thingy. There's no noticeable difference in how it works, but I reckoned it looked much nicer than the pressed steel standard version. I've got Touratech engine bars on mine & these seem to have the same upper mount as yours, with no contact issues.

Secondhand standard wishbones come up regularly on eBay & go for anything from £30 to around £80, but try the usual suspects - James Sherlocks, Motobins, Motorworks... They should all have something which would suit.

Here's mine in situ:

Cheers for the info Paul, your's does look very nice indeed.
It does look like mine is catching though, in the second picture I posted in the lead post you can see a few marks on the wishbone. Will try a few more options & keep my eyes peeled for a S/H wishbone.

These are not pressed steel but aluminium forgings, mine that was on my 1150 got the end bent at right angles after a truck tried to re-shape the front
end , (quite successfully). This was straightend by BMW Panama but I was not happy and fitted a free s/h one they gave me from an RT (many thanks to BMW SA for all their help and assistance). If your worried about it hitting anything put a bit of gaffer tape along the top of the arm and see if it gets wacked, don't for get to go over a few big bumps to make sure it dosent hit on full travel.

I wonder how strong it is compared to the OE? - I guess that won't be an issue on a road only bike like Pauls (im assuming its road only due to the cast wheels). To be honest I don't know how much strain that part is put under 'off road'

That would be my only concern.. because other than that I think it looks great.:thumb2
