What is the cut away on the inside of the right hand side of the GSA (2011 model) fuel tank for. It looks bottle shaped and has a provision for some sort of bracket??

Iirc it's for some emissions thingy that has to be fitted for the USA ;)

Put a bottle of engine oil in there! I'm told the Scottoiler small bottles fit well.

California emissions regs require the fitting of a carbon absorption device to soak up petrol fumes from fuel tank breathers etc. It is fitted in that space under the tank. It is not fitted on European market bikes. As others have said, you can secure a bottle of engine oil there, and Nippy Norman will happily sell you one with an appropriate retaining strap that uses the existing fixing points.

In my case I put a better (as in louder) horn - a stebel magnum. I may be one of the lucky ones, but mine has never used much oil.

Be carefull

Those little bottles are all well and good but the one that was sold to me was flimsy in the extreme. Certainly it didn't like temperature changes and air pressure changes up and down the Alps. It's top cracked and then puked nice fresh oil everywhere.

Guess where the oil goes?

When braking hard down hill it runs down the fork legs and gets blown all over the right front brake caliper

I got sent a new bottle but I don't trust it one jot.

I know that there were a spate of these incidents.... I'm sure it was well documented on this site.

Buyer beware in my book or get a substantial bottle inside a substantial plastic bag just in case.
