Quick brakes query

I tackled new pads on my 800 for the first time today - I've never been that mechanical, but I want to try and do a bit more, and ABW didn't have any in when I went for a service earlier in the week, so they ordered them for me and posted them on.

I got them done ok, bit of a fiddle, but I'm a cack handed buffoon, so to be expected.

Problem is, one of my front callipers was missing the split pin that anchors the pads pin in place -

Are these a standard item I can walk into a car spares place and buy tomorrow?

In for MOT on Sat, and I'm then riding to the Highlands straight after, so I need it sorting this week!

Reckon an ordinary P clip will do it or even a split pin at a pinch. Its only there to stop the pin sliding out.

ive used a split pin for the same job before (different bike) while I waited for new R clips to come.......it takes no load, and once in....the pin hardly moves

Yep, the main pin is seated quite tightly in the calliper, its a tight fit to knock it back out, but I won't ride it till I've got a clip in it.
