Well i felt i couldnt post this in the ride out section as they all seem like mamouth continental rides and i felt a bit inferior lol.... but i went with my mate smudger (he will be joining on here soon) to collect his new gs it was also my first ride since purchasing the bike last week! We went from Essex to Melton Mowbray and stopped for a quick photoshoot at Rutland Water on the way back being as this was our first adventure!

mine is the white one! It was a 200 plus mile round trip, trouble free, but i think i want a more comfy seat and a much taller screen (lots of buffetting at motorway speeds) dont mind the height as im 6ft 2 anyone got any advice/ideas on what i should be looking at screen and seat wise?

Just enjoying a beer now and one of the famous pork pies from the home of pork pies!!!!! Yum...

If Id thought about it, id have asked if I could ride with you yesterday wasnt doing much yesterday :blast nevermind.
Where abouts in Essex are you from then

Good to see something straightforward, every ride is an adventure.

Ah, seats and screens. If only you could have chosen something simple to ask, like Oils.
Plenty of threads to look at and for, mine has a Comfort seat and Isotta split screen (as Wonderlich but cheaper)

Well now, having tried 4 different screens I can do you a good favour as I still have them all in my garage. :augie

If you and Smudger want to PM me we can sort out a day for you to come to my gaff and try the ones I have to see if you like any of them - we can sort out a price if you want one.

As for seats I have a Sergeant seat on my GS, which does the same job as the BM Comfort seat but doesn't make the bike any higher; although with your height that probably isn't an issue.

SuperTed

Thanks Ted will take you up on the screen offer soon!

nice bikes, plus a bit of Christmas shopping judging by the orange one !

I'm in South Woodham living in Burnham on Crouch if you fancy a mid week run out any time.

:thumby:

Thanks ButtonMoon we know Burnham, used to go there on our sports bikes back in the day!!!! not any more though lol , im now built for comfort and not speed hahahahaha

I fitted my Wife's bike with a Explormoto screen from Cliff at ABS in Sudbury, it was good but wobbled a bit when I fitted the screen extensions, so I bought the BMW support bracket. On the last journey she found it very good, reduced alot of the noise, buffeting, insects on the visor, allowed her to turn her head at good speed.

She stand 6' with a small back (long legs). She can see over the screen without issues or annoyance.

Ignore the tape I was taping the headlight brow down into place.

Nice bike mate, I've always suffered buffeting on mine but I had a go on my mates he's got the adjustable screen from nippy Normans that worked a treat I'm 6ft 2 also
.

that's some screen straydog!!!! but I plan to do some trails so im now thinking a bigger screen is just going to get smashed up on the first off!!!!

Stray dogs screen is the same as mine i think the nippy Norman adjustable one is better, but your right I've had mine bandaged for ages now.

That's what im afraid of Robbo! where were you were in that pic did you ride to get there and then do the trails? how long? and what was it like? only reason I ask is that im thinking of doing a training weekend and trail riding in wales and not sure if I should ride down there and back as well!! (it does sound a bit woossey don't it) as I guess that's why we buy these bikes (isn't it!) you can tell im new to all this lol...

I'm in Cumbria in that pic if your doing a training weekend I would trailor the bike , we rode up there with a os map there are a few lanes in good old essex that are gs user friendly .

To be fair tho dibs when I broke my screen it was my own fault, I stuck it into a tree !!! That was the only damage my mate has done 50,000 on his now dropped it crashed off rd his done very little damage they are a bit heavy for the tight deep rutted lanes but once you get into the open they are good fun .

Ah ha I recognise your river crossing at Litley green!!! im in Braintree and have ridden the local lanes on my enduro bike although it was a while ago! but will be attempting them on the GS once I get some tkc's fitted! im sure its a whole new ball game riding off road on the gs that's why I was thinking of some training and trailering down there does seem a better option! are you up for some lanes once im sorted? it would be good to go out with a few of us.. I have used Black Desert training in wales before and they are really good and also do adventure bike training

Yeah I'm up for a bimble round the lanes prob won't be able to do much till the Xmas holiday tho I'm in southend, there are some good lanes also around Thetford way .
