i've just been to look at 54 plate 1200 GS all seems ok but when the ignition turns on the "brake failure" light comes on... the dealer reckons it goes out as soon as you start to move..... i'm hoping to get a test ride next week, and it will have warranty...but is it normal for this to flash when the bike has started but not yet moved,,, ( could not move it as it was in a showroom.)

by the way i'm new to the forum... currently ride and tour on a triumph 955....

thanks Kai....just about to take the plunge... i have just got "management" permission and hope to get it next week...

also the tank and fairing are 100% Black?? most pictures i've seen here are two tone blue / silver black / silver etc... in 2005 did they do a black one? or do you think it could have been resprayed??..

If it has been resprayed its a good job..

sorry for the numpty questions... buit this bike is loaded with touratech goodies, has a full ali box set and the original BMW expanding luggage a touratech tank bag, loads of guards and hard parts including a full set of fairing/ engine bars and the standard can plus remus AM can..

AFAIK, the '05 official colours were blue (which is what I went for :D), yellow and red. However, a 55 plate may well have got black. :nenau

The original colour code will be on a sticker on right side of tank when you remove the seat (and maybe the wee black panel). Might want to check it out with the dealer.

Tank panel (and seat) options were either black or silver.

FWIW I would ask to see all of the paperwork for the bike to check service history. Also, if it is a BWM dealer that you are buying from, ask for details of all warranty work that's been done on the bike.

Oh and negotiate like hell for some kind of warranty! :thumb
