Are there any quick release engine bars on the market?
My issue is that to get my GS LC around the side of my house I can't have bars fitted. I have literally got about 5mm either side of the rocker covers.

I'm thinking if there aren't then the touratec ones look like a good option because once the brackets are installed it's just 4 bolts either side, so I could fit for long rides.

Thoughts please :)

Don't know of anything like that on the market.

What about MachineArt Moto X Heads? (cylinder head protectors) ? Probably more than 5mm though.

R&G do a carbon fibre head cover?

You should enter a precision riding compition. I certainly would not manage that without greasing the valve covers. JJH

I think the machine art x heads would be ok but I'm struggling with £150 for a lump of plastic. Just looked at the R&G ones, not sure they'd offer much protection in the event of a drop or slow slide though?
Touratec bars are £250 flippin 'eck!

Ha it is a battle! The hand protectors are scuffed and so are the spark plug covers! I'm getting better though!

yeah the machine are ones are expensive for what they are!! but i think unique on the market. There are various cylinder head protectors (wunderlich, Touratech, Alt Rider etc) but most just cover the lower portion of the head. I bought them for my GSA in combination with the BMW engine bars and they have worked well!

Do you go off road? If not, get the MachineArt ones, they're fantastic.

The Machineart covers are in fact comprised of 2 parts. The outer 'plastic' bit and then a rubbery inner which fits snugly between the outer and the rocker cover. The Machineart website used to show a video of GS being dropped. Maybe it is still there?
Having said all that they must be at least 10mm thick!

I can get mine through a gate with only a half inch to spare at the handle bars. I know when the handle bars are through ,then I have at least 3 or 4 inches either side at the TT crash bars. No need to remove them. I can not get through with Ali panniers on though. Give it a try...:thumb2

The gap by the rocker covers is narrower than the bars. I have to wiggle the bars just right and guide the engine through! The machine art might be the best option, not sure I like the look of them. Anybody got a photo of a GS LC red with them on?

Evo tech?

Have you had a loot at evo tech bars ,I think they are not as wide as other brand.Imho I think there the best looking bar as well.
