Quieter tyre

Wow that question is going to open a can of worms!

I've had Metzler Roadtec01's and (currently have) Michelin PR6's on my 2019 R1250GS, and found both of them to be quiet tyres (about the same if I'm honest).

Probably something like Michelin Road 5 - 6, a fully street tire with minimum tread crossing over the centre line (front tire). Plus ear plugs so tire noise becomes a non issue.

Can’t say which is the quietest as I’ve not tried them all however without doubt the noisiest I’ve encountered were the Anakee 3s ( though, unlike many, in other respects I really liked them) I will add the howling noise was speed related. Can remember exactly what but something like 70-80 mph, above and below that was fine. Odd. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Both my GS and GSA came on A41 Bridgestones that were replaced with CTA3s which were noticeably quieter.

Ran a couple of sets of Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2s on my Crosstourer and they seemed fine.

On my first 2014 r1200gsa lc every tyre I tried was very noisy,( Anakee, pilot road and dunlop ),my 2018 model r1200gsa lc was ordered with sat nav prep and the factory forgot to fit it even though the bike had same Anakees fitted as the previous bike it had very little front tyre noise.
Dealer retrofitted the sat nav prep at the first service and the front tyre noise afterwards was horrendous, same bike, same tyres just the sat nav cradle fitted .
Can only assume that the sat nav cradle was interfering with the airflow up the back of the screen and amplifying any tyre noise, that said Conti Trail Attacks were the quietest of the ones I tried on 1200/1250's.
My other bikes ktm 1090 adventure s and r1150gs aee fitted with Metzeler Next 2's and tyre noise is minimal

TA3 is quieter than the rest of the bike related noises!

I've just gone from Anakees to Conti trail attack 3s. Almost silent, by comparison very pleased with them this far.

Turn your music up, and they're all quiet.

The CTA3's, IMO, are quiet. But they (any tyre) would need to be very loud to be heard over the engine. So rule out any tyre with an aggressive tread pattern.

That's the last we'll hear from him.

What is the quietist front tyre for the 1250gs?
It isn’t the tyre, it is the feckoff huge gaping hole in your cockpit, that acts like a funnel right up into your face/ears. Plugging it, will help. My KTM came with one fitted from factory :D

GS/A Solution?

This (probably)

Here is a thread about this solution from a few years ago.

Here is what I was on about.

It's the tyre the size and shape or the cavity amplif the sound.

As some tyres are worse than others would suggest it’s tyres. That said the cavity could be amplifying any noise.
