Location
Welshpool
yellow cosy/blue savoureux
I stayed half board and the food was good on the "business" menu

Indoor parking in adjacent street.

Quillan is a quiet town, although most of the patrons in bars were speaking various forms of English from the UK & N.America. Seems to be a lot of ex-pats.

Very close to the superb gorges in the area such as St Georges and Galamus. All carved out by the River Aude and tributaries.

I stayed in (or very near) Quillan many years ago. Cant for the life of me remember where - I blame age. I used to be able to recall every hotel and location - I wish I'd written it all down to help me as my memory begins to get a bit patchy!

I use Gmail as an archive. Put email confirmations into trip folders. Sadly, so many family run hotels used in the past are no more. Many converted to apartments or taken over by McHotel chains.

Hi @wessie could you send me the locations / names of the gorges. We passed through Quillan and I beleive we missed them although did go through some great roads along the river. This for our trip next year. Thank you

Replying here so everyone benefits, plus no DM facility as sub not renewed

Pierre Lys https://maps.app.goo.gl/rjD5iLMWzhY7jitE9 on the main road into Quillan from the south so you probably rode this.

St George https://maps.app.goo.gl/jWzXedoW1VjdWMqWA also on main road into Quillan

Galamus: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UbPED1fRYWNKKmmm6 - this one is quite short and in peak periods has an alternating one way system. Decent cafe at a viewpoint at the southern end

Le Rebenty - https://maps.app.goo.gl/mpPRMdrzvN4BkE5P7 - I have not ridden this but it is part of an alternative route into Quillan from Ax Les Thermes. This is an easy road but plan your route carefully, there are some very high, narrow Cols nearby such as Col de Pailhères rising to 2001m, and not for everyone with a very steep, twisty ascent on both sides.
