Apparently it goes round corners better. I watched a review of a R3 and Ducati Diavel head to head and they both made surprisingly lively road bikes unlike a lot of big cruisers. I'm sure you could adapt a R3 for some sort of luggage but appreciate this isn't its intended market. Certainly earlier Rockets could be had with panniers because I've seen one kitted out for touring a bit like this:
