Stupid name for a blatant copy of a Harley RKS.
Same colour paint and blacked out look, but a tad different as the RKS is very rideable and the R18 has a major design flaw meaning only 6 foot monkeys with a 26 inch inseam can ride the fucking thing .

Might be their biggest seller…..possibly even getting into double figures !!!! :-)

Your disdain is palpable

It’s just a shame that a big company like BMW has zero originality.

That colour and finish looks identical to the RKS I had .
But it’s never going to sell in big numbers as the bike is simply unrideable for many due to the cylinder/peg placement.

But BMW are too arrogant to admit they got it wrong so will keep flogging the dead horse .

BMW's desperation is certainly palpable.

The discounting Stateside has wrecked their own market - best to retreat quietly one would have thought, rather than piss their dealers off even more.

Ze Germans never retreat

Give it a couple of years teh. buy one when they hit rock bottom , keep it another 5yrs until after they discontinue it and the suddenly they become desirable :nenau

But the problem still remains that the cylinders prevent you from placing your feet where they should go

They've sold over 20,000 R18 models world wide so far according to BMW

About 500 of them registered & taxed in the UK, I wonder how much stock is in the UK dealer network / BMW HQ.

I must be one of the lucky ones with a r18 classic lol as a second bike after my k1600 grand america. I do enjoy riding this bike even a six foot two although I get cramp in my legs after 50 miles I would not have bought it as my only bike but for ride outs and biker meets with coffee it’s fun . I did tour the picos and Pyrenees with it but it was hard work and wished I took the k1600 . For what I paid and what it’s worth now on a 21 plate given a second chance would I have bought it NO . I thought about trading in against another 1250 gs adventure new and was offered £12.400 best two dealers really didn’t want it . But the saying is you win some you loose some lol

I love my r18 classic and i already want a roctane :)

Don't like em? don't ruddy buy them then :P

Must admit on purely looks, I prefer the original R18 Classic. If you were going to buy a behemoth like that, the Rocket 3 still rules though as at least it's a more practical touring proposition. Pewrsonally, I don't see the point in bikes like that except for urban posing but perhaps the American market is where these bikes are all aimed at. Long straight roads.

I wouldn’t want either but how is a Rocket 3 a more practical touring proposition ?
At least the Roctane has panniers.
