R 90 S headstock bearings

Just wanted to remove the headstock shells from my R 90s frame and they seem just so difficult to get to. Clearly am unable to use drift and I have tried the Dremmel with a small cutting wheel but to no avail still can't break sufficient away with a cold steel chisel. So chaps what are the options I can do to get ithem out as I seem unable to buy a suitable puller.

Ive just changed the head bearings on my 90s and I welded a bar across the cups to give me something to drift against ........drastic but it worked

I used a heel bar which could just catch the lip and drifted the top of the heel bar needs two people all the same just moved around tapping as you go came out no damage no drama.Better getting the real tool for the job an r90s deserves it good luck.

I have a tool that I made to fit a diversion 900, but it's adjustable, so should fit any head bearing, if it's only the one, either find a socket the right size, or a bar to fit, it only needs to be fractionally bigger than the inner race,

I used an Isuzu kingpin bar to drift out the bearing in my guzzi swing arm, I will show a picture later



If you think it will work, I could lend you it, I have not tried it on an airhead, I won't be able to post until Monday though!

I did one with a small grinding wheel in the dremel, checking every 10 milliseconds to check I wasn't in danger of grinding the frame. I ground it until it was nearly through the bearing, sprayed with GT85 to cool/loosen/lube. And then it came out pretty easily.

I decided to use the mig welder for the other. It didn't work, so I went back to the dremel method which was very straightforward second time around.

how does that work then can you explain it to a simpleton like myself ,would it not weld it to the frame (you may insert huge laughter if i have said something stupid) or more stupid than i usually do
