R&G advise req

before i order 4 of these, does anyone know if the R&G crash protector will fit on the shaft on a R1200GS. I know it fits the K1200R which looks about the same, only its the other way around.

Does the original plastic pivot cover just pop out, with a bit of screwdriver-based persuasion?

Fits in minutes - works a treat. They also do ones for the forks.

Well I finally got round to fitting mine, but I can't seem to get the original plastic cover out of there without doing it some damage.

Any advice?

Yes....it does fit.

And Yes....you will probably damage the shaft when trying to get the plastic cover off.

Suggest you disturb the cover from the bottom. At least if you do chip the paintwork it will be out of view....hammerite smooth does the trick.

Also might be worth spraying with ACF50/WD40 while you have the cover off

Yes I just did it in fact. Used an old plastic ruler and screwdriver combo. It is held in place by the centre being a tight fit in the hole.

I found that meths and some gentle rubbing removes the R&G contact details from the bung nicely.
