On my R1150, the RID does light up when i switch the lights!

I guess the best manual will be your own attempt. It is fairly easy to access to it. On my GS, is as follows:
1) Remove the windshild
2) Remove the top of the fairing (the grey cover)
3) Remove two large bolts that secure the clocks agaisnt the headlights structure
4) There are two clips down on the clocks structure that hold it to the body of the headlights structure, it is a matter of pulling it off - allow it to come out slowly due to the rubber covers
5) Et voilá, you should be able to look on the back part of the RID and access to the lights.

Should you have any doubts, I suggest you look at the microfiches as they help you in understanding how things are mounted :thumb

Hope this helps (mind it is for a R1150GS) and good luck :beerjug:

I have just upgraded(?) my instruments lights to blue led's, and would like to further increase the value of my 1150 by fitting the same to the RID, so, what type of bulb(s) does it take?. Is it the same capless type that the speedo etc take, |I don't want to take it off and then wait for the bulbs to turn up. Lamps not shown on spares filch.
any assistence gratfully received as will cash donations.

The bad news for you guys is it isn't a loose bulb, it is soldered in to the board of the RID.

I guess it can be replaced but my shovels are too shakey to attempt such a job.

Be carefull, when you put it back together, to seal it properly otherwise you get water and condensation in it :thumb

RID

Many thanks for advice, obviously why there's nothing on the spares filch.

One thing to remeber is that it wont light up if the bike is on the sidestand and you turn the key...
