600cc racer Victor was one of the most helpful and popular guys in the road racing paddocks...............lost his life at Killalane yesterday afternoon........
Condolences to his family and friends............:rose

Heard this Morning from a Friend that i made when Marshalling at Armoy.

RIP,Victor.

The irony of this sad incident is that Killalane is the last Road Race of the Irish Season. Because of this, the Inquest into the Death of Mr Hill McCook at the Armoy Races in 2009 was Scheduled to start Today. Several Racers were due to give Evidence, one of whom was involved in the Accident that lead to Mr McCook being fatally injured. Victor Gilmore.

R.I.P and condolences a gerat man and a great racer.
I am very sorry to hear this bad news.

Very sad. They were talking on the radio today, again, about banning road racing. Only time will tell.

God Rest Him

I heard the sad news on Manx Radio this morning...a real loss to the Road Racing community...condolences to his family...

I found it hard to take it in when I heard it. I have worked in road racing and marshalling years ago and understand the why racers get such a buzz from it.

It is something I find hard to accept upon hearing the news about Victor. In the same way I still find it hard to accept that DJ, Robert, Joey and Richard Britten are no longer here.

People shouldn't be quick to get on the wagon to ban such a sport. There are other sports with more deaths in a given year.

As a biker myself I accept the risk of riding on the road and it's no different for road racing.

Jo Public doesnt seem to get it that folk who race the roads and tracks made the decision themselves to go racing.

You have to prove yourself to the racing bodies to get an international A license for road racing......others can correct me here but you just can't go road racing with no prior racing experience at all.

if anything the financial costs of running a 600cc or 1000cc machine for a season's road racing will bring about changes. To run an sv 650 competively for 1 season requires at least £20k...I've done the sums for that!!

Just a couple of wee pictures...............
