I have a 1150GSA with a Remus and Y piece fitted, love the noise but need to drop the noise level as pillion person finds it drones and gets on her nerevs on long motorway runs, so I am going to ether refit the cat and keep the remus can or keep the Y piece and fit the original end can as I still want some of that boxer beat to come through :D .
Any advice or opinions on which is the better option? Any one know if it will make the bike run better or worse?

Keep the Y peice and the can and get the person on the back some ear plugs and while your at it get yourself some too, then you won't hear the complaining. :D :D :D :D

Keep the Y piece and put on the standard can. Mine still sounds a little fruity when blasting the lanes, but really quiet when on motorway runs.

that's what i've done :D

After nearly a year with a Y piece and Remus Revolution, I got fed up with the noise, especially on a long run..
So I changed back to the standard can and kept the Y piece on.. strangely enough the bike seemed faster and smoother with the standard can fitted, probably an illusion, but I do prefer it now.

Thanks for the replies, Have fitted the standard end can back but have a problem. The heat shield (with clamp attached)will not tighten up on the standard box!
Just a bit of history may help. I had the pipe and Y fitted from new and the dealer eventually  gave me the cat and end can back which I have stored in the garage. Do you think there is any chance it is the wrong can? It dose fit the cat as I have tried but the clamp wont tighten up on that ether.
Any suggestions? Are there different ones for different years?
