Dont trust the gauge! its 30 plus years old It could be true but have you a Semi calibrated meter that you can bodge on for a test run ??

Remember these old beasts there's a sort of a rule that if the light is on when ignition switched on and it goes out when revving / moving above tickover then there is output from the alternator rect reg assembly ""which" is higher than the battery voltage"

Search gammotronix on E bay its a small voltage sensitive LED and it will speak words of truth (well its a good visual indicator)

That is a very good shout mate, I think I can cobble something together with my multimeter to get a more conclusive reading

Indeed so, Chris and by quite a margin in my opinion. I am ,however, definately biased.

Chris, did you know that the brushes are named after birds? The larger the brush the larger the bird it's named after. Have you ever seen a Rolls (I think, I should know I have one somewhere) paint liner? This precision tool will paint a perfect line really easily and you can get different width heads and even heads to paint double lines.

Thanks for this thread, a great read. I rode a CS many years ago, with 4 valve Krauser heads if memory serves. It certainly dispelled the notion of a BMW being slow.

I didn't know that fella?!?!

My original intention was to paint them in using my usual technique, however, having seen them actually being hand painted I'm inclined to employ the skills of an excellent coachwork pinstriper that I know. The end result won't necessarily look any better but it'll be so much more authentic. I'm really looking forward to it!

Many moons ago, I lined my gorgeous Heinrich 8 gallon tank, and it looked pretty reasonable after!
The bit that made me sweat, was getting the lines of both sides to look the same. And to look the same from above, and from the front.

I never managed to fill the tank to the top.....I wish I'd still got it!

So .... It won't be long until I think about rolling up the old CS up on the ramp so I can start her restoration. I just need to iron out the glitches in my new Vapour blasting cabinet and wait for a space in the CT schedule where there'll be space on one of the ramps.

I took her up to the smoke for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. Absolutely brilliant day and the old girl performed faultlessly!!

I just swapped a few emails with Chris last week about a PD tank I shall want painting, and I did ask "hows that CS going" and he completely blanked me on that one.

So im guessing its not going at all.........

Well ....... I did wheel out last weekend and give it a good clean (Along with the rest of my fleet)

The reality is, I'm really busy at CT HQ which is talking up all my spare time and space. Do stay tuned though!!
