Just done up a 100

well i've sold it already but :
screen.motobins do a perfect screen for the 100GS.
If you havent bought the Ohlin I have a WP rear for sale which came off my bike but didnt want to fit to the bike I sold it for !!!
Front brake, easy fix motoworks for a k1100 , yes the solid disc helps and def. braided hose.
Really because the petrol consumption is so crap you need to twin plug, get Andrew Sexton to raise the compression, mod the advance/retard unit, mod the gudgeon pin and piston(gives same increase as Siebenrock kit), raise the compression , it will need new valve guides and the engine will go like stink and return high 40-50's consumption
if you want to improve the front suspension twin damp it and fit progressive springs.
Fit a pair of Bridgestone Trailwings and you will be fine. I spent 4k on mine intotaql made it into a fantastic bike.......but then I promptly sold it because I was made an offer I could not refuse.
:D
Of course the best thing to do is buy a 1200.which is exactly what i'm doing once a couple more toys have gone (but not the siebenrock 80G/S):D to much grin factor !!
Oh forget a lardy 1100 or 1150...........unless you go round in a pack:rolleyes:

Rebuilding Ohlins

I had my Ohlin for about 4 years and about 50,000 miles before it needed rebuilding - cost about £100 - needed regas, new seals and a new lower collar that had cracked. It had done hard service doing 2-up dirt riding and 18months/38,000 miles riding to Japan and back with an all up weight of 470-490kgs.

I reckon they're pretty good!

The Progressive fork springs are a good bet too.

I use a Givi screen - angle is more important than style - mount it at 60 degrees for smooth airflow (see model A620 on the link below)

surefoot

oh yes a surefoot is a must. You need to mod it slightly as Motoworks dont do one for a 100GS now. Just cut the mount off 4mm form the locator hole, re-weld the 'U@ locator that folds round the frame and reweld at the other end. You need a longer engine mount stud its an easy bolt on and you need to bend the gear lever out a little and its perfect.............but make sure you use a cable like for a disc lock to remind you to pull it up before you drive off:o

K1100

fit a K1100 front caliper (from Motoworks).a surefoot sidestand (modded from Motoworks stops it falling over laden in a breeze.)you can go on and on to make if a vastly superior bike to an 1150
:D .cost you 4k to really sort it and you have already started !!!
