R100GS-PD Rear Light with LEDs

Thinking of changing the standard rear tail light bulb for a LED unit on my R100gspd. Anyone done this upgrade and any recommendation for the LED used.
I see Motorworks sells a R80/100Gs version.

No, but once fitted you can forget about it and it might just stop some stupid bugger behind you from ramming you.

True it might but having been hit from behind while stationary in broad daylight twice in my 40+ year riding span I don't think it will stop the stupid.

I remember one of the local instructors telling us that he was stopped at a junction with his blue lights flashing and still got rammed by a dosy driver.

It's a good mod I agree but just expensive.

Not really, it’s a very well made proper light board with a mixture of red and white LEDs, properly mounted, probably out live the bike. Nice and bright, but not too bright. Dont be tempted by cheapo LED replacement bulbs.

Motorworks LIA43757 - "NOT for R100GS Paralevers". It doesn't mention the reasons.

LIA06239 - it says similar with this LED part, yet mine has one fitted and is a servo abs model. Their website says will work with BMW up to 09/2002 /09. mine was manufactured in 04/2002
