R100GS tubeless rim ?

Front tyre loses pressure sporadically
First time (3 + years ago) thought I had a puncture, but was told bead seal broken due to corrosion. Bead seal solution was applied and no prob for the life of that tyre + another.
Now its happening again - I was told wheel needs rebuilding with new rim - have had bead seal reapplied but it is still an intermittent prob.
Thoughts ??? I've not seen this corrosion but could it be polished out ?
Ultraseal ? Innertube ?

Absolutely no way you could tell unless you remove the tyre and examine the inner rim for said corrosion.......maybe, just maybe you could clean it all up with wire wool and solvol autosol

before yer strip it down inflate again and check its not yer valve seal - with some soapy water to show the bubbles

I tried everything to make my GS rims seal, but nothing except a tube worked.

Tubes and sealants have improved over the years, particularly the heavy duty tubes, which will run with a nail in them, like a tubeless.

Most aerosol sealer's now work perfectly with tubes too, which makes emergency repairs a bit easier, after you have removed the nail.

I dont notice any difference in ride or handling with the HD tubes, apart from a slight reduction in tire temperature, presumably because the HD tube conducts more heat round to the rim.

Clean the inside of the rim. Get all the years of soap and tyre traces off and it will seal again.
I used a cheap buffing wheel in my bench grinder and brown buffing soap.
Also fitted an angled, screw-in valve. No trouble in the last 6 years.

+1 - the bmw tubless rim valve has a rubber O ring that seals at the rim that can perish and leak, plus the rim can corrode around the valve seal .

Leaky Front

Mine does exactly the same... I go to Sainsbury's every week or so and pump it up! - it goes down to 16 psi - I squirt it up to 26 - 28 and I have never been able to trace the leak

I've all but given up trying to seal mine and am going to put tubes in next tyre change. I've tried bead seal, cleaning off the rims and then polishing the rims where they seat. It works for a while but sure as eggs is eggs they start going down again. They are not too bad if I go away on the bike as I guess the heat from the continued use etc keeps the tyres more pliant and sealed. The bike is not getting that much use at the mo which doesn't help and if I have to pump the poxy tyres up everyday to use it, it gets even less use.

Same position as you, i thought blasting and plastic coating the rims would improve the slight leaks, just three little spots on the lh side of the front wheel, but no, it has improved but it still leaks without rim gunge applied
