R100GS wheel refurbish?

I think you’ll find there should be a grub screw in the nipple on your R100GS wheel too. Many will have dropped out over time but even so they shouldn’t affect dismantling if you cut the spoke and tap the nipple out of the hub.
I checked and you're right. Bugger! I'm still not sure why it's needed or why it should make the re-build so much more complicated? Paging Mikeyboy! Mikeyboy to the courtesy phone please?

The grub screws are there to lock the spoke and nipple together ,the idea being to stop them loosening off as the wheel flexes.
the spokes are not particularly tight.
Don’t buy the grub screws from motorworks as they are stupidly expensive.
You’ll get a bag of 50 cheap enough from boltbase.

I take it the wheel build itself should not be overly difficult to someone who's built tubed motorcycle wheels?

Those should fit the bill.
With regard to building the wheels,
It’s not overly difficult,but I’d get them to someone who has experience of them.
Sometimes they can be a bit of a bugger to get them running true(ish).
The rim is very rigid ,if it’s distorted or has a wobble you cannot pull them straight with the spokes as you might with a conventional set up.
If your chap isn’t happy to do them I’ll put you in touch with my wheel builder.
I normally strip them for her,vapour blast the hub and fit new bearings,then let her polish the rim and build it.
I supply the spokes via motor works

Thanks. The guys up here will not take on BM wheels at all so it will have to be someone down south. I'm now considering leaving the front wheel as is and doing other stuff on the bike over the winter. I'll maybe do a wee English tour next spring and drop the wheel off with Mikey.
