R100GSPD Classic - What's it worth ?

Hi all,

I bought a R100GSPD classic before christmas, thinking it might be a low tech replacement for my 1200GSA. 7 months and a few hundred miles later it sits in the garage 'cause I much prefer the GSA. I wanted a "keeper" so I bought a decent one, some of you might know the bike - it came from Phil at Euroclassics in Northampton. I keep thinking I should sell it 'cause there is no point in keeping it if I always use the GSA.

The bike is a '95, its original & very low mileage. Phil changed all the fluids and serviced it. It's got a new mph speedo with a few hundred miles on & I have the original with less than 15k km. It's got newish tyres & I have fitted a new (gel) battery. It's also got panniers. If I was to sell it what do you reckon is a sensible price ?

As you bought from a dealer, his margin will probably have inflated the price that you paid.

If it is a very low miles, a Classic in good nick, with a good history, the staring value must be around £5,000.
You may have to wait sometime..........but it should sell at over £5K..........if you want a quick sale you may have to take less.

I reckon that you could get £5,500, but you may have to wait

I really think that £5500 is very optimistic and a figure of £3750-£4000 for a mint low mileage bike. The price peaked about 2 years ago and they have dropped since then. I have seen a few immaculate vbikes (like Thunders) but that is a very special bike indeed.
As Arsey says think what you paid for it and take £500 off it

If it goes for £5500 mine is up for sale immediately.

I know the previous owner of this bike, it didn't do too many miles in his ownership either, great shame.

That bike could have been mine for lower than Andy's lowest estimate. Should have bought it and made over 2 grand selling it to Bill

Is this nadeems old bike? If so I seem to recall it was up for sale for £3500 a year or so ago.

No, Nadeem's bike was on eBay very recently by the person who bought it from him on eBay. Another bike that seldom ever turned a wheel. His was the black/turquiose. Nadeem bought his from Derby and caught an absolute stinker of a cold buying his shiny new ride and needing to put a grand in to it just to sort it properly, then threw the best part of another on lights, seats and pannier rails.

I believe the seller on eBay tried to turn profit on that one

I'd say let it go for what you paid minus £500-£1000 ,thats what I did with a mint H1A I bought from a dealer .Depends on your situation,I needed to sell

I'd say you know how to hit the nail square on - that's pretty much sensible unless you like to keep your 'for sales' for 2+ years like some do.

Trade £2400 - then a grand and put it up for sale - then have it in stock for 6 months and reduce it to sell at £2900 - £3100 ( and in the meantime have to replace the battery).

Or try the usual trick - stick it up for sale at £4750, there maybe one gullible punter out there who'll listen to all the high estimates given ( but bare in mind those same people wouldn't ever pay out their own money on what they estimate it's worth ) and buy it.
Usually the buyer sees pound signs in front of his eyes as the bike is on sale at £1k less than everyone is saying it's worth. So he quickly deduces he can buy it, use it for a bit, then sell it on at a profit.

This one is almost identical to mine which many of you saw at Wee-kend.

Mine has only done 19k miles and is 100% original with Ohlins shock, BMW panniers etc.

The day I collected it from my friend in Jersey five months ago, I was offered £3,500 for it (ex-vat). Price was immaterial as I wanted one and I had found a nice one. I have no intention of selling it but I doubt I will lose money on it if I ever did. I bought it to enjoy, not to make a profit on. In fact, I might take it out for a ride later today.

I reckon around £3,500 can't be far wrong. Ask £3,995 and have plenty of haggle room.

So there not really worth that much then, my old Airhead £2000 ish then I pick up a mint one for £2750, so £750 between the two, where do theses £4,000/£5000 come from

So I put rear Olin on my new one that takes it up too £3250 not great money is it for something that`s not made any more and that would be on the decline
