R100GSPD Classic - What's it worth ?

So there not really worth that much then, my old Airhead £2000 ish then I pick up a mint one for £2750, so £750 between the two, where do theses £4,000/£5000 come from :nenau

So I put rear Olin on my new one that takes it up too £3250 :nenau not great money is it for something that`s not made any more and that would be on the decline

Having had the pleasure of seeing your new bike, I feel I can offer you £2700 for it as long as you fit the Ohlin first, if you think about it you will only loose a fiver:nenau and whats a fiver between friends.

Just think how happy i'll be:D That would give that warm 'feelgood' glow for at least week or two:thumb2

Here, ever hopefull

Shep

Where's the pilot, who had it originally

I reckon they peaked a year ago:augie

No more than £3500

Do you mean the one in Germany who bought it new?

Or the one who flew to Germany and rode it back to Spain, garaged it for 2 years and then had it vanned up to Northampton for selling on?

I agree with your maximum price BTW as it is in very good condition but very standard.

Your recall on the original purchase price of the one you're selling now is conveniently vague, I guess this is in case the missus reads it :augie

I was there remember and that 'ish was a very sizeable 'ish ;)

The 4-5K prices come from the quasi-enthusiast/dealers out there who as Steptoe says before buy in as low as possible, polish them then sit on them waiting for the 'fool and his money' to come along all glazed eyes and they can wait a very long time to recoup their investment, sucked in by the genuine enthusiasts wisdom and knowledge and pay way too much for them, find the reality of owning doesn't meet their romantic ideas and they sell and catch a cold in the process.

Then you get those who think they can turn a profit by playing this game of investment bikers, buy a nice one, throw the pics out there for all to see, ask about valuations in the safety and comfort of a non-selling forum and tickle up some interest, only for them to realise they paid far too much on something and they too catch a cold selling them, they're my favourites :D

And of late...

buy a nice one, throw the pics out there for all to see, ask about valuations in the safety
and comfort of a non-selling forum and then I suspect wish they'd never asked

Feck I'm fed up with "Wot's its worth Mister" threads. I only read them for the insults so please Mod don't cut them out. What a bike is really worth and how much you get for them in the real world have no relation. There will always (well, nearly always) people willing to pay over the odds to get something. Been there my friend! But some of the prices for Airheads do beggar belief. Espesh anything with a big tank with a squiggle on it. In the end its just a question of finding the right punter at the right time. Yeah, I know you can fix them with a ball of string and a yo-yo but at the end of the day, I'm never going to cross Africa, Baja or any other god forsaken place and will never need to strip my washing machine to find compatable parts. I may have to visit my family in Lincoln soon, does that count? I live in the land of the blue/white rotating propeller and there is not an abandoned PD racer lent against every tree, so I can't see how the spares availability in Africa can be better. It's often quicker for me to get the parts I need from Motorworks etc than to drive to Bonn 10km's away. I can't wait till the bum drops out the market and we see sensible prices return for Airheads. Even good ones! Rant over, now returning to cage. Nurse, drugs please!

I was talking to an auctioneer this morning and he confirmed prices are well down for classic cars, commercials and Steam. I imagine classic m/cs are affected too. There just isn't the money sloshing around that there has been over the last few years.

At the last Bonhams Stafford auction, prices were well up as europeans took full advantage of the weak pound.

Feck... someone phone France and get someone to check on BillN he may have fell down the stairs and can't reach his keyboard

I'd say around £3250-3500 personally.

£4500-£5000 should buy you a monolever PD in nice condition and far more desirable IMO.

I despair at some of the prices people think that these things are worth.

I'd go for that as a fair estimate. Although on autoscout.de you will find a few Mono PD's cheaper than that.
