A sad day, I've had to put my GSPD on a SORN as no MOT due to the speedo giving up on me :(

By chance does anyone out there have one sitting on the shelf they no longer need?

Help!

They test your speedo during an MoT? Not heard of that before. Why not simply get it repaired? There are a number of speedo specialists around.

Second thoughts, are you sure it's the speedo head? What about the speedo drive? Is it properly engaged into the top of the gearbox? They can be a bit of a fiddle and not engage.

oh those things are worth more than gold even brocken ones fetch 100 euro on ebay but maybe a miles one are cheeper :ronno

I might have got away with it at the MOT but a bit stuffed when it's stuck at 35mph!!

Then take it partially apart and push the needle back to zero.....then take it for it's MoT. Then get it repaired. Simples.

It could have been worse . . . . . It could have been stuck at 95 :D

Mine broke a couple of years back - the needle shot right round to the stop and broke off. I looked into having it repaired but there was a minimum three month lead-time so I bought a new one :blast.

I now have two broken speedos, one day I'll send them away for repair :rob.

Bob.

Maybe not relevant, but my XR600R has Duck tape over the speedo and a Cateye pushbike computer for the speedo and it got through the MOT. You can get a pushbike speedo / pooter for a tenner these days. Would maybe allow you to get her through the MOT and work on the speedo later?

Speedo not an issue for an MoT. Its not tested and the tester would have no cause to fail it, regardless of what speed it indicates.
