R100R tyres

So, what tyres would you guys recommend for my R100R Mistik. Would prefer an Enduro type tyre for gravel tracks. Any ideas?

To broaden your choice consider running a rear tyre reversed on the front. Avon Distanzias & Pirelli ATs are good options.

18/ 18" cuts down your choices , Heindenau Scouts are about it in enduro style, and adding a reversed rear lets you consider Metz Endurro 3 Sahara's, Mitas E07's, TKC 80/ Mitas EO9 's or Dunlop D606 if you want a full knobby.
I have the Metz Enduro 3 Sahara's on my GS and they work very well, best 50/50 tire I have tried, but the E07's are not far behind and will probably last at least twice as long.
If you dont mind running the last half on out of shape tires, that is.

If they do those in right size good plan. I like Mitas though, I run those on the GS. Just want something a little more aggressive than road tyres.

I'm interested in the comments about reversing a rear tyre to fit the front. I understand the principle but aren't tyres direction marked? Wouldn't that be a MOT failure? I'm asking because I want to fit more aggressive tyres to my RnineT. I have TCK 80's on my R80 G/s but I'm looking for less aggressive for the RnineT. The RnineT has a 17" front.

I am seriously considering Heidenau scouts for my 100R. They are a bit more aggressive than I really wanted. They are not specified front or rear, so should be ok. I Have used them before for years on my GS's. I use Mitas on the GS now which are brilliant. Any thoughts, Kenny ?

Both Mitas & Heidenau can be shits of things to change if you are doing it yourself with normal tools. Heidenaus are crap in mud - I found out the hard way

I ran heidenaus for a couple of years. The rears wore out in 4-5k the front lasted 20k. They werent a good tyre in the wet. On the plus side they were very cheap. The front came off the bead twice for some strange reason

I bought these Dunlop K181s because I liked the style. I would normally ignore such 'trivial aesthetics' and go for the best grip, but my Bonnie is not really set up for maximum performance.

They are a funny balloon shape but they are easy to fit. The tyres are surprisingly light too, but the steering is heavy (feels like a soft front). I'm not sure if the speed rating is enough for an R100, but they are available in 18" at both ends.



They seem better in light mud 'n clart than Tourances, but not as good as TKC80s. Pretty good in the wet too but I doubt they'll last long.

Given those criteria go with Pirelli ATs or Distanzias both of which will let you scrape the pegs on tar and perform well enough off road.

I had a Heidenau come off the rim of my 100gs after clipping a rather high catseye on the motorway. What were the circumstances when yours came off Rob?
