I have a problem of the gen light on all the time and not charging battery.light off when ignition off.rotor has continuity with brushes not touching and the correct ohms reading.I have revved to over 3000rpm and light still on and no charge.1981 r100rsAny suggestions ?

IF it is staying on continuously and staying bright ? "Usually" it has chafed and grounded out and this happens as it passes through the top cover or about that area
If it is glowing but changing in intensity? then look to the regulator or the diode board output to the starter connection
You could check the Kill switch possible fault with resistance. Try operating a few times.
Not wishing to call you out on this but the charging circuit does not go through the kill switch. If the engine is running there is little wrong with the ignition circuit. Might help OP.

Q1. How many volts at the battery when stopped? How many when running?
UPDATE
replaced the regulator/rectifier and is now charging
BUT I think new Electrosport esr450 is faulty as its charging at 15.4v peak which is too high for my AGM battery so replacement requested

What brand was fried Reg Rectifier that you replaced - also an Electrosport?
15.4V? Try an adjustable regulator?
