Apparently there are many different types I would have assumed that any R1100 engine would fit any other R1100 even an 'S' I stripped an 'S' engine and it seemed identical to an 'R' engine I had in bits. here is an interesting engine rebuild thread I found today

Same engine If you have an R1100R these fit for you. No other. Have a look in BMW Max Fiche to find your engine. Search with a part number which is the same as you need Pekka

You can find all this on RealOEM. When you've done that, a handy reference table as a 'sticky' would be just great Dick
