hi all,any chance of picking someones brains, after selling my tl1000s and my africa twin i,m now after a gs.i,ve spotted a lovely looking one on biketrader for £2000 but it has 75000 miles on it,is that high for these types of bikes?should i steer clear.i,ve also found a spare engine with 17000 on clocks which means for £2800 i can buy a beauty of a gs with a spare engine should the other blow up.what do you think

75000 miles,should i buy?

What year is it and does it have service history/extras.
The motor isn't the problem on these (plenty with that mileage and higher),but the gearbox can be.
Condition is everthing really, but imo £2700 for a 75K miler is too much.

too late, ive just enquired about service history etc,and can you believe it the bloody things sold.oh well maybe it was,nt meant to be,cheers anyway lads i,m sure this won,t be the last time you,ll be hearing off me i,ve still got a 1150gs to consider for £3500 maybe less:)

Maybe:augie

steptoe had an 1100 for sale in your price bracket recently. might still be available :nenau

mileage is nothin mate, check overall condition of the bike,£2800 would get u a real good un,maybe 40k or less. if u buy from this site bikes are usually well known and looked after:D:thumb2

Mines got over 100,000km on the clock and it runs like a dream . No way would I sell it for £ 2000 Sounds like a spare engine might be overkill but no harm in having one lying around ....just in case ;)

Mine has 83k on the clock, has been well looked after by previous owner, sweet as a nut.
Thought this bike had been sold, you were looking at it a few weeks ago?

My 1100 GS is just shy of 96,000 miles and is perfect.

Just ride it:D

Hi Bart

I rode TLs for years, lived and breathed em' - but six weeks ago i sold my last one and bought an 1100GS

you will love the GS, it's worlds apart from the TL, your focus will shift from 'front end grip front end grip' to a new ( or rediscovered ) zone of overall balance and you loose the ability to get to the next event horizon at light speed but gain the ability to see whats going on whilst you get there.

On these freezing mornings i am so glad my daily ride is on a GS, these are well sorted bikes m8

......i take it you already know the 1100's are the cream of the crop :thumb2
