I'd try loads of different permutations to see if I could pinpoint if it is anything to do with engine speed. Same speed 4th gear clutch in and freewheel tuch brakes ect. JJH
My 1100gs does that too sometimes .. felt thru the seat ..other times smooth as .. hey ho as long as its not grinding or whining am happy ..starting to get used to its foibles ...
Guys I cant remember how long the vibes have been there.im thinking it could be a contribution of 85k hard mileage and a 50mph crash in which the right side cylinder head cover suffered substantial damage

My 1100 with carbs is super smooth to 5k then starts a vibe felt through bars which doesn't get much worse as revs increase Same in every gear and smooth with clutch pulled in. It's done 61k miles. Maybe i am expecting too much for it to be vibe free at 7k+ revs but haven't ridden an 1100 before though I have owned 2010 and 2013 gs. Have checked valves and sync. Something in drive train worn maybe ?
reduced the rocker end float and balanced the carbs at 4000 using a harmonizer and have now reduced vibes to an acceptable level so that cruising at 70 in top is smooth enough. Nothing to do with drive train - if I now rev the engine while tootling along with clutch pulled in in I can feel a vibes come in as the revs get above 5k. But now it is very minor, mirrors perfectly clear, and bike can ridden in nearly all conditions without needing to rev much above 5k. I dare say that a twin with 60K on the clock is going to seem more vibey than other multi cylinder bikes in last 1/3 of rev range. Main feature of my carbed bike is how silky smooth the pick up from low revs is - in any gear
