This is why I have a professional do stuff like this. Twice. I know it’s right and their reputation is on the line if it’s done wrong. Which it won’t be.

If you want to borrow my 850 GS one ( if it fits the 1100 ) until you get yours sorted give me a shout. It’s being removed on the 14th so could be sent up to you. It’s just had a full rebuild ( by Mikeyboy ) with every bearing and bush replaced. Only done about 500 miles since. Once yours is done just send it back.

I've already done one with a hammer n bolster to work the bearing up n off n hub in freezer n bearing in oven and it lasted 12000 miles n it's on way again ..dunno how many it's went thru before I bought the bike ...thinking it's been shimmed wrong at factory n to much preload on the bearing..??

all you need to do is measure the shim pack the specs are in the manual

Bearing preload must be 0.05...0.1 mm.
How do you get it right from the shim pack measurement then?

Gearbox rebuild was separate n paid direct to mikeyboy ....
