remember once you change the CO pot to check the colour of the plugs so you don't go lean

Thats the next question does the adjustment on the CO pot let you go to lean should it not have a fail safe setting ?

My mates just called to say his CO pot was at 533 ! So its now been tweaked to 873, hopefully its now sorted

Noticed its 16oC in Sydney, thought it was supposed to be warm there
Its 20oC here in Glasgow today

its springtime - just warming up.

its not hot ALL the time - just never too cold

has he fixed it yet ?

Well he has adjusted it, time will if its sorted, either that or it'll blow a piston

As this was a machine that was sold all over the world, for different fuel grades, I wouldn't imagine there to be too much difference between the different models sold.
So the CO pot will have a range that would cover the majority of fuel grades available, so it may well have a minimum safer setting but this may vary from machine to machine, so better safe than sorry.

if you turn the adjuster more than 12?? turns (maybe less), it runs on fault mode.
