A buddy of mine just bought an 1100 1998 model imaculate 25,000 miles on it...
But it has now pretty much sat for a couple of months as he did his knee ligamnts falling off a KLR :augie

"This morning i noticed the rev counter's needle no longer works.
Start her up, and she registers 1000rpm, rev her, and it moves to 1500rpm, and moves no more.
Still registers 1500rpm as i sit and type....
the needle only goes to zero after tapping on the glass."

Anybody got any ideas? Oh yeah, it apeared just after fitting bar raisers, maybe a wiring issue?

i would agree with moto in that checking the wiring around the headstock is the way to go, you have probably nipped something or pherhaps pulled something a bit hard. (oer)

If you cant find anything untoward get a multimeter and check the wiring from the rev counter backwards.

Its 99% linked to the bar raisers for sure but you never know, could be it just happened to fail at exactly the same time.
