R1100gs wont start after chip install.

The standard 1100 Motronic socket looks like this, so that additional board/chip is certainly not standard.

Check both throttle cables are seated properly in the adjusters on each throttle body.
Just got back from a blast, huge difference in the way she spins up, idle fine once I got her warm. A lot less popping from the exhaust on deceleration which is a massive bonus, must have been running to lean before. Cheers for the picture paul and the help trying to get it sorted it was one of those things that was niggling me.i think that other board is some kind of early chip alteration assuming and then putting the 2 together was causing conflict

Good you got it sorted
Some early 'chip upgrades', not John Gemmi ones, came with an adaptor for the chip. I believe this was so the new chip could not be read and therefore copied so easily. I guess at sometime in the past your ECU chip had been changed for one of this type and removing the adaptor was necessary for the John Gemmi chip to work properly.

a "scrambler board "
there used to be a guzzi tuner , who used them , so you couldn't read the chip .
it also meant you couldn't use your diagnostic system to talk to the bike .
i pointed out to him , that anyone who wanted to look at the map would have the gear to do it .....all i wanted to do was talk to the bike , not to the bit he had modified.

Electronic wizardry by the sounds of it, i like to deal with things i can see, split pipes, sheared bolts, gaskets leaking that sort of stuff but glad for all the help on hear good community of fellow enthusiasts, ill have to keep my eye out on the ride outs as its coming the time of year to get on some decent rides
