Having written the Africa Twin off I've more or less agreed to buy a 1998 1100 with 28,000 miles ( It's having an MOT at Rainbow on tuesday and the present owner has agreed to have anything done that needs doing ) One owner since 1999, full bmw panniers and givi top box and heated grips. Never been off road and very standard, not mint but no dents or scratches and a bit of work will get it close to 'as new ' as you can expect for a 9 year old bike. Had a test ride and was very taken with it. I've agreed £3250, does this sound about right ?

in a word.... yes.

98 models are amongst the most sorted of the 1100s... this seems to be the consensus.

you dont mention ABS. you either want it or you don't.


you can find cheaper examples... and more expensive....

But from what you've said the bike sounds a good-un

go with your gut feeling... (seems like you have anyway)

It looks like you have just found the almost perfect GS!

Don't delay, just buy it and then enjoy riding it, I'm sure you won't regret it.

I think you'll find the BMW a bit more uncomfortable riding position than the AT... well i did anyway... needed to fit bar risers and lower pegs to get comfortable... but the BM seat is a lot better than the AT IMO.
