I had to accept that "sports" is no longer a thing for me, so decided to look for a big wafty commuter. Picked this old couch up locally for a very good price, amazing seller and a cracking story with it, a mild refresh completed IMG_0742.jpegover the weekend and hopefully many more miles of 50mpg to and fro to come

That should be a year 2000, or so, bike and I think the colour is neon blue metallic (which is very rare). My first RT (of four) was that colour....

Check exhaust studs/nuts. Also wiring harness leading to the ignition lock. Have a good look at the HES wiring under the timing cover. Great bikes though. Perfect for Scottish
weather.

New exhaust on it, the blue is lovely in the flesh , the sticker with the code is on it under the new Sergeant seats....!

I will check the code at some point, its "only" done 56k, I do use a newer 1250RT a lot, you can absolutely feel the DNA through these, I will say, its a very very well made bike, build quality on this is excellent!

1100/1150 RTs are great DIY maintenance all-round bikes... I've ridden 1100s and sold and had an 1150 and if its shite oot and you've a long way to go it RT every time... My 1990 Pan is similar for being an every day bike... 2021 I bought a little post COVID treat of an XTZ12 and half way round a 2k mile tour wished I was on the RT...😆👍

Just got this one, it was actually first registered on my 50th birthday and bought on my 76th birthday :thumby: With a massive 14900 miles.

The 1150RT’s are great bikes.
All day comfort (I’ve Corbin seats which are far better than the originals if you’re going to spend a long time in the saddle).
Cut all the cable ties around the headstock and front frame that hold wiring looms in place, prolongs the life of the wiring and stops the wiring breaking at the point where it flex’s if cable tied.
Had mine for years, only ever needed routine maintenance and consumable items.. needed new front brake hoses last year as one of the originals split and leaked brake fluid.
And It still has fully functioning servo brakes … I expect posting that is the kiss of death.

Having gone through this one now, it's clearly been well loved, I have a folder of bills, including the original bill of sale from Rainbow BMW for around 10k. It has had braided lines put on it at some point, a KN filter, the recent bills show the bevel drive having been rebuilt with all new rollers, the throttle bodies being stripped cleaned and balanced along with numerous other jobs, where its needed it, it appears to have got it, and this is reflected in the smooth running.

Swapped the admittedly tired old suspension old for a set of YSS front and rear which have transformed the bike, a new delkavic exhaust because I am not dead yet and some up and back bar risers.

I think this one will be a keeper, its a charming old thing and managing 50mpg

The only weakness with the 11RT is the headlight. I've an HID upgrade which I'd fitted to mine and then removed on sale. It's sitting on a shelf if you want it. Gratis. Pick it up any time you're over this way.

Oooooo, I do have to work in the capital occasionally, is a worthwhile thing?
Give it a try. Drop me a pm sometime, next time you're due in from the wild west and you can pick them up. (There are two iirc. It was a car kit originally.)

I fitted a Cetek screen to my RT, better upper body/shoulder protection than the standard screen in shite weather

That looks to be in lovely condition. I have a soft spot for the 1100/1150 bikes. They were very sell screwed together things. Perfect wafter, easy to maintain.
