Been thinking about an oilhead to compliment the Airheads in the garage for and had a hankering for an 1100RT. Mentioned this in a conversation with Tuned In and he told me of one he knew about so off I went for a look last Friday.
Turned out to be a 1999 model, genuine pipe and slippers sage green, lack of corrosion in the usual places, 2 owners, with paperwork and just out of MOT with 50 miles on the clock since it's last one.
Next thing I know the deal is done and I'm unpacking the Motolug trailer from the boot as riding it home with no tax or MOT is not the thing to do these days.
Quick phone call to the DVA had it booked in for an MOT the following Tuesday, second phone call had new rubber organised to be fitted on the Monday (just love mobile tyre fitters) and I pulled the bodywork off for a fettle over the weekend.
While it was naked fitted an autocom, GPS mount set of PIAA daylight running LED's and K&N filter, 1100GS induction tubes, snorkel (ain't Ebay wonderful), changed all the fluids and gave her a lavish coating of ACF50.
Tuesday she was ready for the MOT.
Flew through the test even though the tester was undergoing an assessment by his boss on his efficiency so I've now had a few days to get some mileage in and I'm well impressed with the bike, real mile muncher.
