R1100RT

1100 RT

I have one , my current ride [ don't have a GS] ...........not in as good nick as yours or Johnny Boxers , but it's mine nad it's paid for - got in in September last year with 56k on the clock , and now it has 64 k .
A lot of bike for under £3k .

Being the sad git that I am , I've called it the Pathfinder , and got it stickered accordingly [ my brother made the stickers for me as he has a sign writing business] .........

Very nice Steve......................much underrated - bit like a GS with all wrinkles ironed out (better weather protection and a decent electric screen)

Have owned a 1150 and 2 x 1200 RTs and while they are not as much 'fun' as the GS, I loved (guess that is why I had three!)

Updsides:
Absolutely no wind blast so long distance motorway work easy
Very comfy - mind the pillion doesnt nod off
Loads of presence on the road
On occasion mine was mistaken for Plod (silver paint job) and cars would rapidly move aside

Downsides
Not as quick off the mark as the GS
I did feel that I should adopt pipe smoking as a hobby
Bloody heavy to pick up! Yes I did drop the 1150 once and 1200 once
Not so easy on a 1:4 gravel track (approach to an Italian mountain hotel)

:clap

Such an easy bike to ride distance on , and still interesting enough for the curves - I love mine , especially as I went 18 months without a bike .

the pictures as promised, looks like the screw hole section must be a part fitted to the master cylinder, as it does'nt look drilled, never had the master cylinder apart, so I dont know wether the top of the switchgear is a separate part

Those seem to confirm my thoughts that the bike can accept the aftermarket cruise control from the K1100/ K100 16v

Found the part while browsing in Motorworks site.

Steve

mine has a BT020 rear on and a BT021 front, but I have another set of BT020 ready to fit when they wear out, I also have a R1150rt rear wheel, with a BT020 but 17"

Wonder if a Tourance rear will be any good :D

Piaa Lights

Thunder ,

Where did you get those PIAA lights from , and how did you fit them ?
Thanks
Steve

Sourced them on Ebay last year.

Very high output LED's but very low voltage draw so no need for a relay when connecting.

Light brackets are mounted on the fairing using penny washers for support and wired to the side light circuit through a switch fitted to the dash.

Added a 5mm green LED to the circuit so I can see when they are on.

Thanks,
I've got a position for an LED to go on mine too , as the bike an immobiliser on it when I got it , but I've had it taken off [ 11 years old and didn't want it failing on me and possibly leaving me stranded whilst out and about ] .
I haven't got a clue how to do that sort of stuff , but I know a bloke who does [ he has an 04 1150 RT to which he's fitted HID lights etc ] .
