Has anyone tried fitting an R1100S exhaust system to an 1150GS? Aside from mounting issues under the seat, I'm interested to know whether 1100S headers and an 1100S Remus Y piece would fit the GS without problems (same diameter etc?) and put the outlet from the Y in the right place. Hard to imagine that they wouldn't as the engine/box are basically the same. Then there's just the matter of mounting the dual cans (not difficult, surely) and getting a link pipe made up to join the cans to the Y.

If no-one's tried it (hard to believe!) I'll have to find a friendly 1100S owner and take some measurements. ;)

I did a search before posting but couldn't find anything. I know Le Singe made an underslung exhaust but even when I search threads that he's posted on for the word 'exhaust' there's no mention of an underseat one.

Can you point me in the right direction? I'd like to see a picture.

But if the headers and Y are definitely a straight swap that's good news - thanks! From the Y to the cans I can get a custom link pipe made up.

Sorry to disappoint Sproggy, I fitted the 1100RS silencer to my 1100GS front section to match the silencer to the RS engine parts I fitted.

Hmmmm on your own .... not quite ;)

Thanks for the links. The Jesse and Hattech ones look identical - presumably they are the same. Not sure that I like the style too much, but it is quite neat. The Mtec one I could find only in the section about panniers, but I couldn't find details or prices for the exhaust itself?

The black 1100 in the pictures seems to have both headers joining on the right, then going into a collector, then coming up to the underseat cans on the left as normal. Seems like a very complicated setup and I notice there are no pictures of the right hand side of the bike, which I suspect doesn't look as tidy? The cans themselves look great, though.

Think I'll go for an 1100S-based system and use standard parts as much as possible.

Someone is selling a Laser system on Boxertrix.com right now.
Don't know how to include a link.
There's also a standard system on ebay.

Mike.

Found the ebay one now - thanks, Mike.

Re the Boxertrix.com one I'm not into sealed bids - I'll take my chances and see if it appears on ebay.

Cheers.

I think you might find that the heads are different. The 1100 pipes are usually held on with three bolts, the 1150 2 bolts.
I may be wrong, but Im sure this is the case.

No you're right, you're wrong ! ;-) The 1100S is closer to the 1150 than it is to other 1100 oilheads, and it's only two bolts for the headers. If you need any measurements let me know and I'll wander out to the garage.

Toodle Pip
