Hi there- I've got a question for any of you r1150gs adventure riders
out there-hope you can help me with this one. i bought my adventure
without crashbars and bashplate, and found a secondhand set later.
I ordered a mounting set, which consisted of a bracket/rubbers for the front
of the bashplate-no problems there, but how do you fix it at the back?
The back screw holes seem to line up under holes in the sump, but no
rubbers were provided, so do i just use a couple of m6 bolts(i thought that
the bash plate should be fully rubber mounted)?. There are two brackets
on the bottom of the centre stand mountings with m8 threads in them
just screaming for something to be screwed into them, but they don't
line up with the holes in the bash plate, so they're probably for something else.
Obvious answer would be to go and look at another adventure, except that
i can't find any in my neck of the woods.
All tips greatly appreciated, especially that one photo of the back mounting
of the bash plate that i can't find anywhere on the internet!: thanks, stef

i don't know if there is anything that bolts on at the back, but i know its solid mounted. i would take i picture of mine but i don't have any lights in the garage, i do have a camera with a flash, but getting to take it would be a problem  and i'm sure someone will know better shortly on

Thanks Wesleyjohn-this already helps-if the back bit is solid mounted,
do the bolts go into the engine, or are they somehow attached to the
centre stand brackets?

Online parts catalogue & images are at http:\\www.realoem.com

Thanks Paul-I ordered the fitting spares using the part numbers on the realoem site under the same diagram- the front bracket works as it should, but the back mounting
(the bolts numbered "7") in the diagram don't make any sense: the bash plate is about 3/4" away from the bottom of the engine,so there must be a sleeve or something that should fit over the bolt on the topside of the plate.
The mystery continues.........

the answer

I finally located another r1150gsa rider in amsterdam-it seems that my bash plate is not standard bmw issue, but a custom-made job (6mm thick).
The standard bmw r1150gsa screws onto the "L"-shaped brackets on the
centre stand at the back, and is rubber-mounted on the front as shown in the real oem diagram above. Mine now does the same-I just had to drill two new holes a bit further back on the plate.
Anyway, thanks for the replies to my query, and merry christmas
wishes from amsterdam!

I wish BMW would at least get it right. Even that diagram is wrong as there is a hole missing...no big deal for those of us familiar, but in cases like this, it will have some wondering. There are 6 holes for M6 fasteners, 2 on each side then two towards the front center and 2 holes for M8 fasteners at the rear.
