R1150GS gear lever parting company

I've just had a minor issue with my gear lever coming undone from the footrest end, had to ride 5 miles home in 1st gear ! Easily fixed, and I will keep an eye on it in future. I just wondered if anyone else ever had this problem ?.

These bikes are glued together with loctite, it probably means that the lever has been off before.

Same thing happened to me on my H-D Fat Boy - but I expected it

Had the same on mine when I first had it, I thought the gear change had a lot of travel, but on investigation the lever was hanging onto the last couple of mm’s of shaft. The gear shaft does not have a grove that the pinch bolt sits in and stops the lever coming of the shaft.
