Planning on changing the gearbox oil on my 1150 but would just like confirmation of which is the correct drain plug, please.
Is it A on the front face below the fill plug,
or is it B on the underside?

I think it's A as it's the same as the fill plug, but B is at the lowest point which would logically be the drain. I certainly don't want to undo the wrong one as I know this can lead to bits falling off inside and the wreaking of all kinds of havoc!
Many thanks,
Mick

PS I know what you lot can be like, so serious answers only please :pullface

"A" is the drain plug.

It's always a good idea to slacken the fill plug if it's your first oil change in case some tit over tightened the fill plug.

"B" is also a drain plug. It also has a large magnet on it.

On high mileage bikes that i get in for servicing or bikes where i find the gearbox oil discoloured i pull the B plug to check whats on the magnet and to clean out the bottom of the gearbox case.. It's just one of many small attentions to detail that my customers get and isn't done anywhere else :D.

On an 1100S gearbox "B" is the only drain plug.

You'll need a 14mm allen bit to undo it.

Don't forget to replace your alloy washes too .... :augie

PS .... There only about 20p from your dealer .... :eek

PPS ....... BMW Dealer , you know for bikes , not the powder type ... :P
