motofiche

it seems the bmw stuff has been removed from motofiche.

Do I smell the heavy hand of a large German conglomerate ?

(Or was it the german sausage I had last night ?)

Or am I just being paranoid.

Thanks Scurrell for the link
Just finished successfully downloading the manual from http://www.atomic.co.uk/personal. Took ages but followed your advice with a download manager thankfully because I had to reconnect 3 times.
Bandits post about the BMW motofiche made me download before this link disappeared as well.
:)

Message on the Microfiche site message board:-

"18/07/2002 17:00:38 I have to come to you again with bad news : All BMW informations were removed still because of legal issues. We are sorry not to be able to provide you this service again."

Looks like Malky needs to get burning those writeable CDs. In the absence of the Bun Fight at the Sarratt Corral we can have a bring-and-buy sale instead: GS Maintenance Manuals, huggers, used Y-fronts, Thorntons chocolate covered peanuts (milk or plain), and signed copies of "How To Make Friends and Influence People".

You would think, that bearing in mind the cost of copying a CD, that BMW would supply one with our £8000 machines, what a tight load of sods..!

No, no, no sleepy, you miss the point.
If BMW supplied one we'd all be doing our own maintenance. The end result would be that:
(a) we all do it really badly and BMWs get a bad name on the 2nd hand market for faults and problems (this is the argument from quality control)
(b) we discover it's quite easy and begin wondering why we've all been ripped off by dealer services for so long paying so much for such simple things (this is the argument from illusion)
(c) we'd all do it really well and never use BMW dealers again, putting many of them out of business (this is the argument from fear).

sorry

been a bit slow in copying the cd's.

I will probably be there on 29th, I will bring a handfull with me.

Weather permitting

Hello All
I a recent convert to the 1150GS World (previoulsy in F650 Land)...
Bought the bike Second hand, but no manaul was available..

I tried the www.atomic.co.uk/personal page but got the following message:

You are not authorized to view this page
You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.
HTTP Error 403

I also tried a download manager but no luck.

Is there any knack to accessing this link, or is there another link I can try..
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated (and possibly get you on my xmas card list)
Cheers,

R1150GS manual

Hi all,

if you type the following URL in the 'Address' box on Internet Explorer

http://www.atomic.co.uk/personal/R1150GSmanual.pdf

the page will open in Adobe Acrobat, and you can print it out.

If you create your own web page with a link to this page, you can right-click the link and do a 'Save As ...'

Of course, all of this would be against copyright laws, so we wouldn't do it anyway would we ??
