I changed the fuel filter in a friends bike.

Fuel gauge did not work after that. Nothing visible in RID.
The problem is in the connector tips (?) which are in the gauge.
I have tried to reform them so they would touch the sliding area.

No success.

Any ideas from somebody.
How can I reform them to make the gauge work?

might I hazard a guess that it's not the fuel GAUGE at all, but that when you changed the filter, and replaced the whole pump/filter assembly, you have got the arm that floats on the fuel to give the level, caught somewhere in the tank ? Means you might need to take off the tank again, and remove the plate with all the fuel filter/pump gubbins on it, and re-fit it back in the tank-the arm can get caught up with the guaze bag on the top of the fuel pump -tricky to manipulate, but can be done !!:thumb2

If the fuel gauge worked before the filter change, then that's where I'd start looking.

Or, check that the multi-pin connector that fits below the tank on the right hand side, is properly connected, and that a wire hasn't become broken or loosened somehow.

My 2p's worth :o Good luck:thumb2

I have no idea why it stopped working in the first place.

Ok, tomorrow we will study the problem.

I got it fixed by bending the connector tips with two mini screwdrivers.
