need advice to take the tank of my bmw r1150gsa is there link fuel pipe some where else and what sort of connection does it have like to rechip my bike you see. p.s seen the 2x pipes on the side with the interlocking connectors wonder where the other is etc.

There is one that goes right through underneath the tank from one side of the bike to the other. Same quick connector (well it is on my 03 bike)

You may as well order a stainless replacement for the male part of the connector now so that when the plastic one snaps after struggling to disconnect it you'll be good to go...

On mine the link pipe connectors are a smaller ID diameter than the main flow and return pipes in the side. So not sure if that is standard, but if it is, then the stainless male part won't fit...

And don't forget to grease (silicone) the O-rings on all the connectors, pretty much every time you take the tank off...

Top tip - get two 90 deg QDs - one on each end of the pipe. That way you can leave the connecting pipe on the bike, without having to unthread it and re-thread it every time...

Great tip Mike. Wish I'd thought of that before wrestilng to get the link pipe back on mine a couple of weeks ago. Despite the mails stating the link pipe unions are smaller, mine are definitely the same size and were right b*st*rd to get back throught the gap under the alternator. 2 x 90 degree unions already ordered!

Genius! I must have had the tank off a half-dozen times over the past 18 months and its always been a barsteward.

Took the tank off my 03 gsa the other day - no link pipe just the 2 fuel lines (and yes both plastic connectors snapped!)
