Have been offered a 1150r at a very good price.I have ridden one for about an hour and found it very comfy, and definitely lower than my gs. Anybody have long term experience of one of these? Also fancy cool cast wheels, spoked whels are such a pain in the arse to clean!

I had one for a year before my GS. The reason I bought it was I was going to have to wait 8 months on a GS. Had it for about 6 months and then ordered and waited for a GS. A good bike the R but the GS is smiles better. Only my opinion, Ricky.:)

Don't steer/ handle as well as GS & ground clearance can be a problem but for normal use plenty good enough.
Need a screen/fairing if you intend to cruise much above 75mph.
Make sure the price is low.. appears that nobody wants them :( Georgia has been trying to sell her's for the past 5 months & not even had anyone too view.
Looks like it's now my ride to work Bike:eek:

MM.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties in selling the bike :(

In my usual helpful manner, I'd be happy to help you dispose of the bike.

I haven't the room for the whole thing, but I'll happily help out by taking the wheels off it from you :D

1150 R

I have had my 02 abs model for 18mnths now & I love it too bits there is no other bike on the market that I would look at other than a GSADV I do around 7000m a year 2 up & touring & mainly 400m + days I have the bmw sports screen fitted & that really does improve things on the distance.
My dad had a GS (will be GSADV 3sept) & I think they are great too you can tell where the GS gains when we are both out e.g tight twisty bends .
But for me the R gets it its my first bmw & not my last.
I only have 2 main problems the first being that whenever I get the chance im out on it.
The other is I cant get more than 3500m out of a rear dunlop D207 sportmax which does not please the wife too much (but who cares)

If its a good price & the spec is good buy it I know that most people on here have a GS & they are a very good bike but the R is a really underated bike.
About the only thig it cant do that the GS can is off road so buy an XR600 or trials bike as well to do that im going too.

Have fun Malc
