I bought good low mileage R1150RT (ABS/ Servo removed) in March and I removed the tank yesterday to find this item all wrapped up in plastic and tape. I appears to be what's left of the ABS control unit? Can this also be removed?

If so I am assuming it's not easy to do or the person who removed the ABS would have already done it rather than spending a lot of effort wrapping it up and securing it.

It's still attached to the bike via the cable seen in the photos.

Some people make their own cover but I used a premade cover from motorworks that does a great job a takes minutes to fit with a bead of sealant... The unit you show it the part that controls the brake light circuit etc and is best left well alone... Basically sticking it in a plastic bag is a bit half arsed and is best sorted properly...👍

Normally I would agree but it was wrapped very thoroughly and was neatly cable tied to the bike so it was a good job. It may be the owner at the time asked for it to be done this way to keep the cost down.

After some research I have decided to have a go at removing whats left of the ABS unit. I will report back when done.

As long as you feel sure of the outcome... My feelings after reading previous probs was to remove only what was necessary and do a neat job of sorting the rest...😉

Where is the fun in that :D

You mean cut the ECU plug off ? Why ? What’s the point ? You’ll lose the option of you or the next owner the option of being able to replace the modulator very simply without having to resort to lots of messy rewiring
